Title 1

Northeastern York School District Title 1 Program

Northeastern York School District operates a federally funded reading program, Title I, which is designed to provide help and support in reading to children in grades Kindergarten through 6th grade.  Children are selected for this program through academic assessments, portfolio writings, evaluations, classroom grades, parent and teacher surveys, and classroom teacher referrals.  Students who do not meet proficiency standards in reading are recommended for this program.

Certified reading specialists provide supplemental reading instruction to students that qualify for the program.  In some instances, children are pulled out from their regular classrooms for instruction.  In other cases, the instruction is provided within the regular classroom, in a co-teaching situation.  Students will continue to receive consistent individualized reading instruction from their classroom teacher.

Please feel free to contact the reading specialist at your child's school if you wish to learn more about this program.
