Acceptable Use Policy & Chromebook Information
Northeastern School District Anytime-Anywhere Learning Student, Parent, and District Agreement
COPPA CONSENT FORM Mandatory for All Students Under the Age of 13
Dear Parents/Guardians of school-aged children under the age of 13,
In order for schools within the Northeastern School District to continue to be able to provide your student with the most effective web-based tools and applications for learning, they need to abide by the federal regulations that require a parental signature as outlined below.
Our district utilizes several computer software applications and web-based services, operated not by this school, but by third parties. These include contracted content providers and websites and apps that support educational programs. A complete list of the programs with the privacy policy and terms of service for each can be found here: https://goo.gl/vCD1Wh.
In order for our students to use these programs and services, certain personal identifying information --generally the student's name and email address-- must be provided to the web site operator. Your student will receive a Google email account to participate in the Google Apps for Education program used by NESD. Under federal law entitled the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), these websites must provide parental notification and obtain parental consent before collecting personal information from children under the age of 13. For more information on COPPA, please visit https://www.ftc.govltips-advice/businesscenter/guidance/complying-coppa-frequently-asked-questions.
With your permission, the law allows schools to create and manage student accounts. Questions may be directed to Shannon Oliver (olivers@nebobcats.org), Technology Integration Coach.
