Substitute & Guest Teachers
All individuals interested in substituting for ANY position should use our online application system Frontline
We have 3 basic substitute categories listed below. Working as a substitute provides a flexible schedule that you can control
proactively using our substitute software.
Professional Substitutes/Registered Nurses/ Licensed Practical Nurses/School Nurses
Must be PA Certified
Our on call daily substitute rate is $110.00 a day and increases to $115.00 a day after your 26 th working
day each school year.
Guest Teachers
Individuals who have earned a bachelor’s degree in any field of study are eligible to apply to become
guest teachers. The PA Department of Education (PDE) allows school districts and intermediate units to
apply for emergency certifications for qualified applicants.
Our daily guest teacher substitute rate is $110.00 a day and increases to $115.00 a day after your
26th working day each school year.
Support Staff Substitutes
Our daily support staff substitute rate is $11.75 an hour for the 2022/2023 school year.

Child Nutrition Aides (Cafeteria Aides)
Playground/Cafeteria Helpers
Instructional Assistants
Special Educational Paraprofessionals
Personal Care Assistants

Northeastern School District Clearances
According to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Education School Services Unit, ALL APPLICANTS FOR EMPLOYMENT with public and private schools including student teachers and independent contractors and their employees, must undergo background checks. Act 151 (Pennsylvania Child Abuse History), Act 34 (Pennsylvania Criminal History) and Act 114 (FBI) must be renewed every five years, provided there is no gap in employment with Northeastern School District. Clearances must be no older that one year old from the effective date of hire, regardless of when the employment application was submitted. Costs are not covered by the district.
Medical Examination & TB Test
All employees must obtain, at their own expense, a medical examination and tuberculin test by a physician of their choice legally qualified to practice medicine and surgery or osteopathy or osteopathic surgery in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, or the physician's legally qualified designee. The TB test can be no more than three months old at the time of employment and must prove that the employee is negative for tuberculosis. The medical examination form must be signed and dated by the physician and the employee and can be no more than 1 year old at the time of employment.
