We are excited to launch Parent University designed to empower parents to better understand the factors influencing their children’s education. Northeastern will host a series of informative events over the next few months for families of students from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Let’s unite as one community, dedicated to Building Better Bobcats... Together!
Session #1 - K-12 Social Media & Mental Health
December 16th @ 6:00 PM / High School Auditorium
Curious about what your child is doing on social media? The PA Office of Attorney General will provide information designed to help parents navigate the world of social media, understand the latest trends, and learn ways to keep their kids safe online. Gain insights, ask questions, and feel more connected to your child’s digital world. Wellspan Philhaven will provide a focus on the unique mental health challenges students may face as they struggle with balancing academic pressures, social expectations, and family dynamics.
In this session, we’ll discuss practical strategies for parents to help their children navigate these challenges which may include: Coping strategies for stress, anxiety, Ways to foster open communication and provide emotional support, Tips for maintaining healthy routines and self-care habits during the break, recognizing signs your child may need extra support. Don’t miss it!
Session #2 - Safety & Standard Response
January 14th @ 6:45 PM / High School Auditorium School
School Resource Officer Goodman, Superintendent Dr. Bottiglieri, and other administrators will share an overview of school safety protocols. We will highlight the Standard Response Protocol (SRP), a nationally recognized set of guidelines designed to streamline responses to various emergency situations. Attendees will learn how SRP simplifies communication and actions in critical situations, providing clear steps that everyone—from students and staff to parents and community partners—can follow to ensure safety. Additionally, we’ll discuss safety efforts being implemented across our schools that help to maintain a safe learning environment.
Session #3- Teen Drug Trends and Vaping
February 24th @ 6:00 PM / High School Auditorium
We are pleased to invite you to an important session on understanding the current trends in teen drug use and vaping. As part of our commitment to keeping our students safe and informed, this session will provide valuable insights into the latest substances and behaviors that may be affecting our youth today. Experts will discuss the risks associated with drug use, including vaping, and offer strategies to help parents recognize signs, initiate conversations, and support their teens in making healthy choices. We encourage all parents to attend this informative session, as we work together to ensure the well-being of our students.
Session #4- Protecting Our Students While They Use Technology
March 24th @ 6:00 PM / High School Auditorium
Join us for an informative session where we'll explore how our district is working to protect students while they use technology. Learn about the tools and strategies in place to ensure safe online experiences for students and how parents can take similar steps to protect their children at home. This session will offer practical advice on monitoring online activity, setting boundaries, and fostering healthy tech habits, empowering families to create safe and supportive digital environments. We encourage all parents to attend and take an active role in protecting their child's well-being in today's tech-driven world.
Session #5- Building Bridges: A Parent-Administrator Connection Event
April 28th @ 6:00 PM / High School Commons Area
As we wrap up the first year of Parent University, we are excited to invite all parents and families to a special opportunity to connect with the superintendent and other school administrators.
This is a great chance to review key topics from previous sessions, including Teen Drug Trends, Social Media Usage, and School Safety, while also sharing your ideas, asking questions, and discussing ways we can collaborate to enhance your student's educational experience. Your feedback is incredibly valuable to us, and we look forward to hearing from you as we continue to strengthen our school community.
